The Museum of Russian Impressionism in Moscow continues to host a very interesting and unusual exhibition called "The Magazine of Beautiful Life".
The exposition is based on the first Russian glamour magazine "Stolitsa i Usadba", which was published from 1913 to 1917. The slogan of the magazine was the statement of its publisher: "Beautiful life is not available to everyone, but it still exists". Looking from the 21st century, the modern viewer often cannot understand the nuances of life and manners of people who lived in the last pre- revolutionary years.
One of the sections of the exhibition was named "Tourism" after the permanent rubric of the magazine. And the thoughts about tourism and travelling, stated on the pages of the magazine more than 100 years ago, are still relevant today: "One of the greatest pleasures available to people is travelling. The most cultured people, the English, have long known this and have travelled more than all other nations put together..."
The exhibition is open until 06 October 2024.
